The Motherwell, Scotland-based manufacturer of articulated off-highway dump trucks – together with its exclusive dealer, Mining Eurasia – says that it wants to bring its quarrying and mining vehicles to more customers in new locations.
In 2018, the Russian economy grew faster than it had done for more than five years – largely due to the uptick in construction. The Siberian natural gas pipeline project, major infrastructure renovation work and the 2018 FIFA World Cup football tournament all helped to create a boom in construction projects throughout Russia.
Terex Trucks says its TA400 articulated hauler (which has a maximum payload of 38 tonnes) is popular in Russia as it ensures low cost per tonne and maximum productivity.
“Russian customers are very cost conscious,” said John Rotherford, global key accounts director at Terex Trucks.
In addition to the TA400, Rotherford added that the TA300 articulated hauler (which has a maximum payload of 28 tonnes) is also popular among Russian customers. "It’s reliable and easy to operate, both these factors help to drive the majority of purchasing decisions," he said.
Rotherford added that a key differentiator for Terex Trucks is the dedicated on-site maintenance and support services at it offers.
"This is especially valuable in Russia because the country is so vast, meaning that dealers’ branches are often based hundreds of miles away from their customers,” he said.
Earlier this year, Terex Trucks appointed Mining Eurasia as its official distributor of articulated haulers in the Russian Federation.
Rotherford said that, going forward, Terex Trucks’ focus in Russia will be on growth and further development. He added that the company plans to work with Mining Eurasia to expand into the far east and the far north west of the country.
