VIDEO: First Volvo Trucks commercial autonomous transport solution at Norwegian limestone mine

473 Volvo Trucks is supplying its first commercial autonomous transport solution for real day-to-day operation to Norwegian mining company Brønnøy Kalk AS. Six autonomous Volvo FH trucks will transport limestone over a five-kilometre stretch from an open pit mine to a nearby port. The solution is said to offer companies working in many industries such as aggregates production and mining greater flexibility and efficiency, as well as increased productivity.

Speaking about Volvo Trucks’ multi industry-focused development of commercial autonomous transport solutions, Sasko Cuklev, director Autonomous Solutions, Volvo Trucks, said: “Transportation is really the lifeblood, the pulse of societies, it drives prosperity for business and the people. In the near future, we will start to see self-driving trucks from Volvo on our roads becoming a part of our society.”
