Papua New Guinea’s limestone plan

The government of Chimbu Province, Papua New Guinea, plans to start the PGK 1 billion (€284.64 million/US$319.74 million) Chimbu limestone project before developing a nearby PGK 13 million hydrodam. According to Chimbu Governor Noah Kool, Salini Impregilo, which is the company involved in the hydrodam project, has allocated PGK 1 billion to purchase cement for the dam project.

The government of Chimbu Province, Papua New Guinea, plans to start the PGK 1 billion (€284.64 million/US$319.74 million) Chimbu limestone project before developing a nearby PGK 13 million hydrodam.

According to Chimbu Governor Noah Kool, Salini Impregilo, which is the company involved in the hydrodam project, has allocated PGK 1 billion to purchase cement for the dam project.

As such, the government intends to build a limestone and cement factory in addition to developing a limestone mine near the project to supply cement for the dam.
