395 Caterpillar has announced plans to open a new parts distribution centre in Dubai to enhance the distribution network in the Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Cat has said that the planned 41,000m2 facility is the third such centre added to the company's global service parts distribution network in the last fi ve years

The Dubai Distribution Centre will employ between 100 and 120 people and will further strengthen primary aftermarket parts support in the Africa and Middle East region

"We are very pleased to be adding the centre to our global parts network," said Cat vice president for parts, distribution and logistics Steve Larson. "With the outstanding product support capability of Cat dealers in the region and the improved parts availability this operation will deliver an unmatched level of after-sale support." The Dubai facility will also contribute to Cat's sustainable development goals by reducing airfreight for parts ordered in the region. Operations for the new Dubai Distribution Centre are expected to be underway in 2012
