The African Development Bank awarded this critical highway project to Energy China, following its winning tender of approximately US$78m.
Since commissioning of the international aid project concluded at the end of September 2022, Lintec says the CSD2500B plant continues to provide flawless operations, affirming Energy China’s selection of the asphalt mixing plant for this critical project.
With no prior experience of Lintec & Linnhoff’s broad range of asphalt mixing plants, Energy China conducted a thorough fact-finding mission, touring many African countries to understand and assess the best construction equipment needed based on the local conditions and environment. In this case, Côte d’Ivoire’s economic capital sits directly on the Gulf of Guinea, resulting in high average humidity of over 80% and two distinct wet seasons, with rainfall hitting an average of 561.8 mm in some months.
“Energy China visited many Lintec asphalt mixing plants at jobsites of local customers across Africa as they undertook the selection process,” explained Tony Liu, CEO of Lintec & Linnhoff China. “Features such as ease of mobility, energy savings and the consistent, high-quality production capabilities enabled by the German engineered control system were integral to their decision in selecting the Lintec CSD2500B Containerised Asphalt Mixing Plant.”
To date, asphalt production has now passed the 50,000 tonnes mark, connecting Route d’Alépé in Abobo, one of the country’s most populated communes, with Boulevard de France in the commune of Cocody. The two-way, four-lane project aims to help alleviate significant disruption to the urban network, as a result of the city’s population doubling every seven years since 1945.
In addition, the Abidjan Y4 road project is particularly important as the country is currently hosting the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, with the construction creating approximately 600 jobs for the local community, improving the local economy and social development.
The modular design, built entirely within 100% ISO certified sea containers, lends itself to efficient, economical transportation, and makes the plants ideal for short- and long-term projects. Their flat, rigid design also speeds up installation by eliminating the need for concrete foundations. The design also allows for simple installation and dismantling, with the simple box construction ensuring high stability on suitably compacted soil, removing the need for the pouring of costly concrete foundations. The Lintec CSD2500B Containerised Asphalt Mixing Plant also allows for the integration of a single lockable main access point for improved onsite security, as well as the reduction of dust and noise emissions.
In addition, Lintec’s unique double screen drum technology eliminates the need for hot elevator and vibrating screens while reducing the need for maintenance. Combining the heating and screening of the minerals in a single process unit, this offers the substantial advantage of delivering significant energy savings.
“After significant research into the needs of this project it was clear that the Lintec CSD Containerised Asphalt Mixing Plant range was the right choice for us,” said a project manager at Energy China. “With its efficient performance and low cost of ownership, our new Lintec CSD2500B with an output of 160 tph is ideal for both large and small project requirements, while its renowned reliability is key to ensuring we complete this project within the agreed timeframe.”
