Hungary-based subsidiary Nostra Cement – operated by a joint venture of 725 Lafarge and 3669 Strabag - has announced the completion of a new cement plant in Kiralyegyhaza, which is now undergoing a six month-long test phase. The €270million plant will have capacity to produce 1million tonnes of cement and 750,000tonnes of clinker each year.
Development of the plant included construction of a 5km railway line which will enable limestone from the quarry at Bukkosd to be transported to the site.
Inauguration of the plant is planned for September this year.
