BDS's latest annual report, Estimated Outputs (2021) of Ready-mix Concrete Companies in Great Britain', provides estimates of outputs and market shares by individual UK ready-mix concrete plants and companies. It says that batching plants contributed 90% of the over 24mn m³ of ready-mix concrete in Britain in 2021, with the remainder attributable to the on-site batched sector. Over 1,280 ready-mix plants, mostly located in England, are identified in the report.
The ready-mix concrete market in Great Britain continues to be dominated by five producers – Breedon, Tarmac, Hanson, Aggregates Industries and CEMEX, who, between them, accounted for 58% of the total ready-mix market in 2021. For the second year running, Breedon was the largest ready-mix producer in Great Britain.
The new BDS publication is one of a series of annual output reports BDS has published annually for over 25 years. Other reports include Estimated Outputs of Aggregate Sites in Great Britain and Estimated Outputs of Asphalt Plants in Great Britain.
