WCA adds further speakers to China conference

The World Cement Association (WCA) has announced its second line-up of speakers for its 7th annual conference and exhibition, which will take place on 18-19 May 2024, at the Hilton Nanjing Niushoushan, in Nanjing, China, and will focus on the theme of ‘Strategy and Performance.’

This year’s WCA conference will focus on Strategy and Performance

The WCA says it has added six esteemed industry leaders from across the cement industry, who will share invaluable insights and experiences, and discuss how these are altering the industry’s trajectory. Notably, senior figures from the top five Chinese cement producers, including Anhui Conch Group Co., China National Building Material Co. Ltd., Sinoma Cement Company Co Ltd, Sinoma International Engineering Co Ltd, and China Resources Building Materials Technology Holdings Ltd will be among them.

The conference will tackle current challenges faced by the cement industry by showcasing the latest advancements and discussions on accessible solutions and opportunities to innovate. CEOs, VPs, Chairs, CTOs, COOs, and Senior Managers will gather to explore topics, such as carbon trading, cost reduction, global outlook, management transformation, and developments in supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs).

Lukas Schoeneck, head of business development and sales at thyssenkrupp Polysius, will be sharing his insights on the latest ‘Developments in Carbon Capture and SCMs’, during the ‘Technology’ session.

Xu Yue, chief of the digitalisation sector, assistant general manager and hacirman at Anhui Conch Group. Additionally, Xu Yue is the executive director and general manager of Conch Information Technology Engineering and will be presenting on ‘Empowering the Cement Industry with Digital Transformation’, during the ‘Management’ session.

Ouyang Baoqing, intelligence and digitalisation expert at China Resources Building Materials Technology, will be drawing on her nearly 30 years of experience in intelligence, digitalisation and strategic management to present on her creation of the world’s first ‘Lighthouse Factor: Innovation and Development of New Quality Productive Forces of Building Material Enterprises’, during the ‘Management’ session.

Lilik Unggul Raharjo, chairman of Indonesia Cement Association as well as president director at PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia, will share his extensive experience in manufacturing, business strategy, development and sustainability while presenting ‘Plant modifications: cost reduction and efficiency enhancement in Indonesia’, during the ‘Success Stories’ session.

Farah Diab, area sales manager at Fives FCB, where she has held various senior roles for almost 10 years. Previously she worked on furnaces and exchanges at Heurtey Petrochem. She will be focusing on Asia and discuss ‘The implementation of FCB Horomill® grinding plants’ for her presentation during the ‘Success Stories’ session.

Samar Gurung, head of trading at Aastar Trading and senior figure within KPN, will be leveraging on his 25-year industry knowledge and his strategic expertise to discuss ‘Global Trade’, during the ‘Global outlook, Opportunities and Challenges’ session.
