Granite’s asphalt facility in Santa Clara has been recognised by the California Green Business Network for its efforts to conserve resources and prevent pollution.
As a ‘California Green Business’, Granite says it recycles approximately one million tonnes of asphalt and concrete per year in California. On average, the Santa Clara plant uses 40,000 to 60,000 tonnes of recycled asphalt and approximately 1,500 tonnes of recycled rubber tyres each year for use in their reclaimed asphalt pavement and rubberised asphalt, the company adds.
Donald Roland, Granite’s coastal region construction materials manager, says: “We are proud to serve as an industry leader in environmentally responsible aggregates and asphalt production, while managing environmental risk and conserving natural resources.”
