Austria’s stone and ceramic association - Geschäftsführer des Fachverbandes Steine-Keramik – has reported a rise in turnover in the industry during the first half of the year. The organisation has said that sales were up 1.51% to €1.46billion in the first six months of 2010, compared to the same period last year.

Cemex's net sales up 8%

Latest figures from Cemex show that the company’s consolidated net sales increased by 6% during the fourth quarter of 2011 to approximately US$3.7billion and increased 8% for the full year to $15.1billion versus the comparable periods in 2010. Operating EBITDA increased by 13% during the fourth quarter of 2011 to $542million and increased 1% for the full year to $2.3billion versus 2010.

Austrian aggregates stabilisation

Sales of building materials in Austria during 2010 generated a turnover of €3.2billion, just 0.05% down on the 2009 level indicating a stabilisation in demand. Officials have said that a lack on investment in infrastructure during the last 12 months has impacted on demand. Turnover during 2011 is expected to rise by 4% due to an increase in thermal rehabilitation projects.
