The event was due to take place 23-26 February 2021, having already been rescheduled due to COVID-19 from its original 3-6 November 2020 dates.
bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2018 attracted 39,173 participants (+ 20%compared to 2016) from 61 countries and 668 exhibitors - of which 51% were international companies.
The decision to reschedule the exhibition to April 2021 was supported by Arvind K. Garg, chairman, bauma CONEXPO INDIA – Task Force and executive vice president and head, Construction and Mining Machinery Business at Larsen & Toubro. He said: “As the industry is witnessing a gradual recovery, the decision to postpone the event comes at an appropriate time. To ensure a safer environment for participants, we have moved the show to an India Expo Centre. Along with providing top facilities and an excellent infrastructure, bauma CONEXPO INDIA is all set to cater to the industry’s needs. We wish to affirm that all Government directives and norms will be followed stringently to provide a safe experience that the participants expect and deserve.”
Sandeep Singh, president of the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (iCEMA) and managing director, Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Company, has also backed the exhibition rescheduling decision, saying: “After considerable discussions with iCEMA committee members, we suggested that the show gets postponed. The market is steadily recuperating as it comes to grips with the adverse effects of COVID-19 on the growth trajectory. At a time when the industry’s mood is gradually lifting, the decision to postpone the trade fair is a good call as it will give the Indian industry time and resources to enable exhibitors to participate in the 2021 edition.”
