643 Cemex UK business unit Cemex Cement is celebrating achieving two years without a lost time injury (LTI). The company has the operational cement facilities at Tilbury in Essex, Rugby in Warwickshire and South Ferriby, Humberside.

“This is an unprecedented achievement of two year LTI free and our cement colleagues are to be congratulated for their tremendous effort in keeping themselves and each other safe over the year.  But incidents happen in the future not the past so we must always be vigilant,” said UK Cement Operations and Technology  vice president Carlos Uruchurtu.

The company has said that this just one of four major health and safety milestones being celebrated by the company this month – Cemex Readymix reached one year LTI free, the company won 12 awards in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards and the Readymix Central region also won the internal annual safety award.
