Lafarge sector manager Barry Hewitt explained, “It all started as a bit of a joke really. When we produce a batch of our special free-flowing flooring concrete - Agilia Gyvlon Screed A – we always do a sample first for testing. But one day one of our drivers brought in a rabbit jelly mould so he could use the leftover concrete to make a bunny for his daughter.”
Since then the company has been making rabbits with the samples and Lafarge plant supervisor Ricky Mapes’ children now have decorated them. But with the populations growing, the company looked to donate some of the concrete bunnies to a local school and 27 have now been handed over to Henry Preston Primary school where pupils will take part in a rabbit paintin competition after the Easter break.
