The 2904 Institute of Quarrying's ‘Quarry Garden’ campaign has won the Best Marketing, PR or Social Media Campaign category at the fourth annual Association Excellence Awards.

The awards, which were held at the KIA Oval in London on October 12, celebrate the work of UK trade bodies, professionals membership organisations and associations.

The Quarry Garden was the centrepiece of the institute's centenary celebrations in 2017. The campaign for the project included a mix of media relations, social media, moving image, digital, literature and events. Partnerships with Nottingham Trent University and 3707 Nature After Minerals provided content for video, social, press and digital communications.

IQ chief executive officer James Thorne said: “The inspiration for the Quarry Garden came from one of our members. Our internal Communications team took that inspired idea and worked with Nottingham PR and marketing consultancy Redbrick Communications to deliver a far-reaching campaign targeting our members, people working in quarrying, the general public and other stakeholders."

Sarah Fry, business development and communications manager at IQ, led the team that delivered the project. The award is now on display at the IQ's head office in Nottingham.
