Lafarge appoints new safety coordinator

Lafarge Cement has announced the appointment of John Lewis as its new health and safety coordinator for its Aberthaw Works site in Wales. Lewis joins Lafarge from Biomet, a medical implant manufacturer based in Bridgend, where he spent five years in the post of health, safety and facilities manager. His previous experience also includes safety and facilities engineer for the Cardiff Bay based Nippon Glass Factory.

725 Lafarge Cement has announced the appointment of John Lewis as its new health and safety coordinator for its Aberthaw Works site in Wales.

Lewis joins Lafarge from Biomet, a medical implant manufacturer based in Bridgend, where he spent five years in the post of health, safety and facilities manager.  His previous experience also includes safety and facilities engineer for the Cardiff Bay based Nippon Glass Factory.

At Aberthaw Works, Lewis will be responsible for working alongside the site's workforce to enforce health and safety compliance, and develop health and safety systems for the site. He will work closely alongside environment coordinator, Jonathan Bailes, to continue Lafarge's continuous drive towards sustainable development.

Aberthaw Works manager James Kirkpatricksaid, “John brings a great deal of experience with him which will be beneficial to the continued success of the plant. We are incredibly proud of our track record which sees 635 lost-time injury free days - a credit to the commitment of everyone here."
