Cheshire Concrete Products has invested in a former concrete block plant owned by Marshall’s in the UK in a bid to meet demand for materials. The company will operate the site near Wrexham under the name of Clwyd Concrete Products and has said that the investment is strategic as it believes the area is under-supplied for concrete blocks due to manufacturers withdrawing from the market due to the market downturn.

Breedon revenues increase as “some confidence returns”

Breedon Aggregates, the UK’s largest independent aggregates business, has released its unaudited interim results for the six months ended 30 June, 2013. They show that revenue was £100.2 million compared to £83.0 million for the same period last year, a 21% increase, while underlying EBITDA at £13 million (£9.7 million for same period in 2012) is up 34%.
