The West Yorkshire, England-headquartered business has been assessed by EcoVadis as being in the top 1 per cent of companies worldwide for its sustainability management system.

Matthew Gabriel, product development manager and sustainability manager at Oscrete, said the company was committed to positively impacting the environment.

“We believe that sustainability means having an ethical commitment to taking responsible actions that benefit our planet and society, and we are delighted that after being formally evaluated, we’ve achieved the highest possible award in the EcoVadis global assessment programme,” he said.

“Sustainability is critical to our business strategy, from how we operate to the admixtures we make.  Over a 10-week period, this assessment evaluated our commitment to all areas of sustainability including GHG emissions, ethics, policy, procedures and certificates, right through to transparency through our value chain.”

The company put itself forward for evaluation under the EcoVadis sustainability rating programme to test its material sustainability impacts.

The EcoVadis methodology measures business sustainability management systems through three pillars of: policies, actions and results.

In the testing, Oscrete scored high marks on labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. It also received high scores for its environmental strengths, including using renewable energies, reducing carbon emissions in transportation, training employees in energy conservation, and improving energy efficiency through technology and equipment upgrades.

“All departments across our business have been involved in this process and we are absolutely delighted that our objectives of keeping sustainability practices at our core has seen us receive the highest possible global rating for our commitment,” Gabriel said.
