Swain appointed Tarmac's sustainability manager

Tarmac says it is bolstering its sustainability team with the appointment of Andy Swain as sustainability manager. Reporting to Tarmac’s director of sustainability, Dr Martyn Kenny, and working across Tarmac’s UK business, Swain will help to drive the company’s sustainability programme and support with the development of new environmental tools for customers. He joins Tarmac from the UK Environment Agency, where he was an industry regulation specialist.

868 Tarmac says it is bolstering its sustainability team with the appointment of Andy Swain as sustainability manager.

Reporting to Tarmac’s director of sustainability, Dr Martyn Kenny, and working across Tarmac’s UK business, Swain will help to drive the company’s sustainability programme and support with the development of new environmental tools for customers.

He joins Tarmac from the 3625 UK Environment Agency, where he was an industry regulation specialist.

As a director of CEEQUAL (the assessment and awards scheme for improving sustainability in civil engineering and the public realm) and current chairman of its Technical Advisory Group, Swain is also an approved trainer and verifier for thescheme.

Dr Kenny said: “With his wealth of experience in both environmental policy and the quarrying and construction sectors, Andy is well placed to help us to continue the evolution of our business’s sustainable development. As well as helping to further embed our sustainability framework across Tarmac, he will play a crucial role in driving forward our targets and developing new sustainability tools to deliver more commercial benefits for our customers.”
