The award ceremony for Volvo Construction Equipment’s ‘trash to treasure’ Up-Cycling Design Arts Campaign has been held in Shanghai, China, where more than 20 works of art made from scrap machine parts were exhibited.

After a thorough process of online auditions, judge reviews and appraisals, four pieces of work from the 20 finalists particularly stood out and were awarded with a Grand Prize.

Leipfinger-Bader of Germany has acquired the assets of brick plant Schönlind from Merkl, including real estate, production plant and clay pits.

Leipfinger-Bader announced that it will invest a relatively large sum to modernise the plant and increase output of heat-insulating bricks.

A cement grinding plant has been launched in the village of Atlan-aul in the Republic of Dagestan, North Caucasus, Russia.

The facility was built using private investment and details were not disclosed. The project will provide cement to the district and to the republic as a whole.

The deal was valued at CNY 2.05 billion (€240.83 million). The acquisition will be done via Asia Cement (China)'s subsidiary Sichuan Yadong Cement.

Caterpillar has outlined its strategy for customers in lesser regulated countries selling and buying used Tier 4 Interim products for operation in those countries, where prevailing fuel quality and fuel sulphur content vary widely. Based on extensive testing, analysis and field validation, the company has determined that Cat Tier 4 Interim engine systems between 130kW-895kW (7-32litre engines) will not require any modification to operate in lesser regulated countries.

Thailand’s Siam Cement says it expects 2014 domestic cement demand growth to be lower than the 7% posted in 2013 due to slowdown of the government’s infrastructure spending.
