Hather Plant Hire invests £1.8mn in Hill Engineering and Hyundai

Hather Plant Hire, one of the largest plant hire companies in the UK and the largest in South Yorkshire, has invested in new equipment from Hill Engineering and Hyundai. Hather Plant Hire, one of the largest plant hire companies in the UK and the largest in South Yorkshire, has invested in new equipment from Hill Engineering and 429 Hyundai.

The company was formed 35 years ago by managing director, Gary Hather, with just one machine, a 633 JCB 3C3, where Gary used to do small jobs for local builders. Today the company is still a family-run business with Gary at the helm alongside his wife Karen, son Luke and daughter Carol, and now has a fleet of more than 400 machines and 160 staff.

Hather Plant Hire’s relationship with Northern Ireland-based quick hitch manufacturer, Hill Engineering, began 15-years ago, and now each of Hather Plant Hire’s 400 machines is fitted with a Hill hitch.

Recently the company bought a further 25 TERFA hitches from Hill in a deal worth in excess of £44,000(€62,500), and these will be fitted on the 25 new Hyundai machines, which Hather has also just bought.  

Hather Plant Hire a fleet of 45 Hyundai’s ranging from 8tonne-32tonne, and in the recent deal with County Derbyshire, England-based dealer, EP Industries Hather purchased 25 new Hyundai machines in a deal worth in excess of £1.3million(€1.85 million).  The new excavators comprise ten 8tonne R80CR-9As; 12, 12.5tonne R145LCR-9As and three, 23.5tonne R235LCR-9As.
