Work is expected to start some time in 2016, and a local partner has been secured by the company for the project. It is anticipated that some 3 million tonnes of cement will be produced annually by the plant.
At present, Semen Indonesia is examining the prospect of setting up the cement plant in Pidie.
Work on a plant is also being carried out by Semen in Papua, and operation at the US$150 million facility is expected to start in 2019.
Plans are also in place to launch a plant in East Nusa Tenggara.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been sealed by Semen with Semen Kupang. Cement produced at the East Nusa Tenggara plant will potentially be exported to Australia.
Meanwhile, Semen Indonesia has reported revenue of IDR 19.11trillion (€1.26 billion/US$1.39 billion) as at the end of September 2015, down by 1.2% from IDR 19.35 trillion a year ago.
Revenues were at IDR 11.6trillion during the quarter, up 6.5% from the same quarter a year ago. Its net profit during the third-quarter of 2015 was at IDR 3.2trillion, a year-on-year drop of 21.6%.
