Cimencam unit’s 2018 start

In 2018, Les Cimenteries du Cameroun (Cimencam) will start operation at its new cement grinding unit in Nomayas. The unit of LafargeHolcim will spend US$40.30 million (€35.34 million) for building the plant, which will have initial capacity of 500,000tonnes/year.

Cameroon’s Cimencam drops cement price

Cameroon cement company Cimencam, which previously sold its cement higher than any other market player, has reduced its prices to become the least expensive supplier, with a 50kg bag of its cement going for XAF 4,350 (€6.63/US$7.30) in Douala.

Essroc concludes acquisition of Holcim's slag cement grinding facility

US-based cement producer, Essroc, has concluded the purchase of a 500,000tonnes/year slag cement grinding facility located in Camden, New Jersey.

The Holcim (US) mill was divested to mitigate competition concerns about the merger between Holcim and Lafarge.

The purchase of Camden mill will enable Essroc to offer a more comprehensive product to its clients in the mid-Atlantic and north-east markets.
