Northern Ireland has its largest representation ever at the 427 Hillhead exhibition this year with 19 companies exhibiting on the stand organised by Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI) and a further 23 companies exhibiting independently.

It is claimed that the strong presence will reinforce Northern Ireland’s position as a global centre of excellence for the design and manufacture of materials handling equipment.

The region has one of the world's most successful clusters of engineering companies developing innovative solutions.

Machinery manufactured in Northern Ireland is sold to customers in over 100 countries with applications as diverse as iron ore mining in India; road construction in Peru; diamond exploration in South Africa, and sand washing in the Arabian Gulf.

The sector employs more than 4,000 people in over 100 companies, many of which have been operating successfully in Northern Ireland for many years, supported by a comprehensive and competitive supply chain.

Telestack expansion will create 40 jobs

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has announced that Omagh, Northern Ireland-based engineering company Telestack is undertaking a £3.1 million (€3.65 million) expansion, creating 40 new skilled jobs.

Telestack specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of a range of mobile bulk material handling systems which are sold globally via a network of dealers and agents.

Hillhead 2014 hailed great success by organisers

Organisers of Hillhead 2014 have hailed the event a great success – with 17,559 visitors attending the three-day show at Lafarge Tarmac’s Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton, Derbyshire, northern England.

Held 24–26 June 2014 the event underlined its status as the world’s biggest working quarry-based exhibition for the mineral products, construction and recycling industries.
