The first of many 6156 Cemex UK on road Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) days, set up by the company’s Aggregate and Asphalt Contract Haulage Team, have been staged as part of Cemex UK’s commitment to Logistics Health & Safety. The days give Cemex UK employees the chance to discuss safety with hauliers and to go out on a delivery to site. The VFL Days took place at Cemex UK’s Salford Depot and Ely Coated Plant in March 2017 to showcase the good work our contract haulage partners do towards safety and to encourage the company’s haulage drivers to continue operate safely. They also give Cemex UK employees the opportunity to deliver material to a customer site to see first-hand what the firm’s hauliers do. The events were well attended by members of Cemex UK’s Aggregate and Asphalt Commercial and Operations Teams, Logistics, Supply Chain and Readymix.
The feedback from the VFL days was said by Cemex UK to be very positive and there was a great level of engagement from the company’s contract haulage drivers towards safety. Contract haulage accounts for a large proportion of all Cemex-delivered Aggregate and Asphalt volumes nationally, and they are an integral part of Cemex UK’s supply chain – often the first person a customer sees, making them vital to the Cemex UK customer experience. The Logistics Team will be hosting more on road VFL Days throughout the year with dates currently arranged for Brighton Wharf and Halkyn Quarry. More VFL days in the Southern, Central and Northern regions will be arranged later in 2017.
