CRH posts 33% increase in pre-tax profit for 2011

Irish building materials giant CRH saw its pre-tax profits rise a healthy 36% to €1.03 billion last year.

The company said its US sales had benefitted from a weaker euro, and they expect the favourable exchange rates that helped boost its 2015 profits to continue this year.

CRH’s American businesses, which are mainly focused on the US, contributed €917 million to its €1.27 billion operating profits in 2015.

Last year’s global CRH sales were worth €23.6 billion - 25% up on the €18.9 billion achieved

Irish company Kemek, half-owned by building materials group CRH, reported a decline by 15% in revenue year-over-year to €13.20 million in the fiscal year ended December 2011 from €15.50 million in the previous year.
Pre-tax profit of the industrial explosives company dropped 33% to €812,000 from €1.2 million as the firm incurred EUR 1.57mn non-cash depreciation costs. Accumulated profit amounted to EUR 10mn with the number of workforce fell to 44 people from the previous 55 people in 2011.
