680 Holcim has reported rising sales volumes across cement, aggregates and ready mixed concrete with sales up 2.5% from 2009 levels to record a total of CHF22billion in 2010. The largest gains were in aggregates with a 10.1% increase in volumes and ready mixed concrete with a 9.8% increase.

A release from the company said, “Despite the challenging environment in many markets, Holcim increased its sales volumes. This volume growth is broad-based, with group companies in all five group regions contributing to the success. The percentage increase was more pronounced for aggregates and ready-mix concrete than for cement. “This became particularly evident in the enlarged operations in Australia, where the new consolidated group company Holcim Australia – a leading nationwide supplier of aggregates, ready-mix concrete and concrete products – was consolidated for the full year for the first time. Sales of ready-mix concrete increased above average in the rapidly growing major centres of Asia.”

Looking ahead to 2011, the company has said that it is seeing a trend for improved demand in Europe and slight increased sales volumes in North America. Latin America and Asia Pacific are expected to be the company’s best performing regions this year with continued growth and increased demand forecast.
