Excavator investment for Cemex

Cemex has opened a new €900,000 production plant near Branne in south west France. The facility will produce concrete for Bordeaux region-based projects, replacing Cemex's other plant in the area, located in Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens. Built on a 5,000m² plot, the new plant has a 360tonne granulate storage capacity. As well as its substantial production capacity, the plant has high security and environmental standards. It has ISO 14001 environmental management certification, as do all Cemex's French plants.

Cemex has secured ISO 14001 environmental certification for its French sites in Salles-sur-Garonne and Cintegabelle, Haute-Garonne.
The company's sites in Cintegabelle and Clermont-Lefort have also won a safety award to mark three years passing without an industrial accident.

Cemex Granulats Sud-Ouest (Cemex) has been granted authorisation to exploit an open air sand and gravel quarry in Saint-Cricq-du-Gave and Lahontan, France.

Cemex's extraction permit was initially annulled by the Appeals Court in Bordeaux in December 2010, but the case was taken to the Cassation Court before being approved by inter-prefectoral order, despite opposition from the Lahontan Council and L'Association de Défense et de Valorisation du Pays d'Abet.

Preparation for restoration gets underway as extraction of material at Cemex's Longham Quarry nears completion. After 12 years and production of over 1.8million tonnes of sand and gravel, the life of Longham Quarry in Dorset, UK as an active gravel pit is nearing its end. Once the final aggregates have been processed, the site is destined to be reprofiled to form a 1.4million cubic metre reservoir.
