RSSItalian cement and construction material group 1909 Cementir has posted a net profit of €1.8 million for the first half of 2012, up from a loss of €8.7 million in 2011.

The company’s turnover rose 2.6% to €462.5 million, while its pre-tax profit went up from €1.9 million to €4.9 million and its EBITDA increased 17.5% to €55.9 million.

Cementir's operating costs went up 3.6% to €415 million, with a fall in raw materials prices being offset by increased transport costs.

In general, a slump in performance in the Italian and Turkish markets was compensated for by strong sales in Egypt, the Far East and Scandinavia.
