Haver & Boecker launch Ty-Rail tension rail system for vibrating screens
Haver & Boecker says its patented Ty-Rail system solves an age-old problem of time-intensive screen media change-outs. Replacing tension rails is typically time-consuming and requires removing and replacing many pieces of hardware-per-screen section. Washers or bolts are often dropped or lost in the process, which adds to downtime and parts costs. The Ty-Rail system is said to provide a fast return on investment, and cuts screen change-out time in half.
“We continue to lead the aggregates and mining indu

BAA: Significant progress In Aggregates Levy challenge
The British Aggregates Association (BAA) says it has successfully overcome two challenges to appeals against the Aggregates Levy that it has lodged at the EU General Court. The challenges, on admissibility, were made by the EU Commission supported by the UK government.
BAA director Robert Durward said: “This has been yet another example of the Commission and the Treasury acting in concert to have our case delayed or struck out on technical grounds. They have tried every trick in the book to avoid having
Ernstberger uses the Sandvik mobile crushing and screening
The geological history of the Altmühltal region in upper Bavaria, Germany, reveals significant strata dating back over 140 million years when giant dinosaurs roamed the earth, writes Patrick Smith.
Rock from this period is now quarried, proving to be an important source of aggregate for the construction industry. Local company, Ernstberger, owns and operates four quarries in the area, using an array of Sandvik mobile crushing and screening equipment to process over 200,000tonnes of rock each year.
Indeco’s large breakers over drill & blast
Large breakers are the only alternative today for quarrying applications where drilling and blasting is not an option. Lucio Garofalo reports on Italian firm Indeco’s impressive progress in this area of the quarrying equipment market.
In many countries, the use of explosives in quarrying is meeting growing difficulty due to environmental, logistical or safety reasons. In some cases, the problem has been solved by utilising large milling machines or cutter heads, but these solutions are not always an effect

Blasting solutions and alternatives for modern worldwide quarry operations
Blasting and blasting-linked software solutions are popular when it comes to winning material in quarries, but drills and large breakers are proving just as attractive alternatives, as Guy Woodford reports.
In order to stay ahead of the competition in a highly competitive market, Jens Weiß recently added to its fleet of surface drilling equipment. The company now operates the first fully remote controlled Sandvik Ranger DX800 in Germany, which is said to have significantly added to the flexibility, safet
French look to embrace technology and bespoke quarrying despite low aggregates demand
Like much of Europe, France’s aggregates demand has been somewhat depressed for several years. However, the impressive size of the market and its growth potential has seen building materials suppliers and quarrying equipment OEMs working hard to maintain sales levels. Guy Woodford reports.
There’s been something of a perfect storm brewing in France. The country’s attempts to find a route to growth are being significantly hindered by many factors. There’s low aggregate demand, partly due to a lack of majo
