Iran seeks cement markets after Iraqi ban
In Iran, Mohammad-Reza Lotfi, deputy head of the Association of Cement Industry Entrepreneurs, is reported as saying that the Iraqi ban on Iranian cement imports has caused much trouble for the industry.
The only solution is to look for new markets, with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia named as possibilities.
About 7 million tonnes of Iran's cement exports or 60% of cement and clinker exports went to Iraq in 2015.

Oman’s RCC opens new cement silo
Raysut Cement Company (RCC) of Oman has started to use a new silo with storage capacity of 20,000 tonnes at its factory in Salalah.
The silo has three compartments with capacity of 3,000-12,000tonnes each to hold oil well cement, sulphate-resistant cement and ordinary Portland cement.
It also has two units to load bulk cement at rate of 300 tonnes/hour.
The company plans to complete building a new packing plant with 150tonnes/hour capacity at the silo in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Estonian Betoonimeister, a company, focused on the delivery of high performance ready mixed concrete has reached an agreement to acquire all the assets of TM Betoon, the subsidiary of TMB.
The acquisition is subject to approval by the Competition Authority, and the price of the acquisition is confidential.

Pakistan's cement exports have declined by 18.98% from 6.08 million tonnes between July 2014 and April 2015 to 4.92 million tonnes from July 2015 to April 2016.
Cement sales in April 2016 grew by 7.81% to 3.55 million tonnes from 3.29 million tonnes in April 2015 while cement exports fell by 18.66% year-on-year (y-o-y) from 0.64 million tonnes to 0.52 million tonnes.

Lafarge launches soluble cement packaging
French cement producer Lafarge has launched Le Praktis, its new cement packaging, a bag that can be introduced entirely in the cement mixer without opening it.
Lafarge worked three years with Swedish packaging specialist Billerudkorsnas to develop the bag, which is made of a new type of paper protected by a humidity-resistant covering.
During the blending, the bag is shredded into invisible microfibres that do not alter the cement characteristics.
