Myanmar’s new Kyaikmaraw cement plants
The town of Kyakmaraw in Mon State, Myanmar will have two cement factories to be operated by local companies MCL Cement and June Cement Industry, with each factory able to produce 5,000tonnes of cement/year.
MCL Cement expects to complete construction works on its plant by mid-2016, while June Cement Industry plans to start its factory construction this month.

Saudi Arabia’s cement sales drop
According to Al Rajhi Capital of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia has posted a 6% year-on-year drop in its cement sales in April 2016 to 5.4 million tonnes.
City and Al Jouf Cement are reported to have seen the highest rise in sales in the month under review, with more than 30% and 29% year-on-year, respectively.
Najran Cement dispatches declined sharply by 38%, and Hail dispatches decreased by 25%.

Telestack, which says it has matured into two clear divisions, Aggregates and Mining and Ports and Inland Terminals, will use Hillhead to globally launch a number of new models.

Hahn & Co, a private equity company, has agreed to acquire a stake of 46.14% in South Korea-based Ssangyong Cement Industrial from several creditors including Korea Development Bank. The sales was valued at KRW 883.70 billion (€662.64 million/US$755.69 million).
Sandvik Construction’s Hillhead highlights
Sandvik Construction says it will be at Hillhead 2016 to highlight the total solutions nature of its product ranges.

US kiln cancelled by Lafarge
It is reported that expansion plans at the Joppa Cement Plant in Massac County, Illinois, USA, which would have generated approximately 50 new jobs through the addition of a third kiln, have been cancelled by French cement manufacturer Lafarge.
Robin De Carlo, a spokeswoman for Lafarge, stated that the company's ability to sufficiently run on its current two kilns had motivated its decision to end the expansion plans.

St Petersburg stone output up 3%
According to LSR. Bazoviye Materialy, the output and sales of crushed stone in St Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Russia, grew by 3% in Q1 2016.
The upward trend is explained by a growth of the demand for this kind of regional products and a decrease of supplies from Ukraine.
The licensing of the crushed stone imports from non-member states of the Eurasian Economic Union was introduced on 14 August 2015.
Finning and SITECH at Hillhead 2016
Finning UK and Ireland and its technology partner, SITECH UK and Ireland, will be showcasing new machines and new technologies at Hillhead 2016.

Cimencam unit’s 2018 start
In 2018, Les Cimenteries du Cameroun (Cimencam) will start operation at its new cement grinding unit in Nomayas.
The unit of LafargeHolcim will spend US$40.30 million (€35.34 million) for building the plant, which will have initial capacity of 500,000tonnes/year.

Lafarge Africa’s 50% Unicem stake
Lafarge Africa will acquire another 50% stake held by Egyptian Cement Holdings (ECH) in United Cement Company of Nigeria (Unicem).
ECH is an entity jointly owned by Lafarge Africa and LafargeHolcim Group.
Lafarge Africa will buy the shares from Holcibel through which LafargeHolcim's stake in ECH is held.
Apart from that, the issue of 413.18 million ordinary shares of Lafarge Africa as full consideration for the acquisition has been approved by the board of directors.
Volvo CE hosts the Operators Club at Hillhead 2016
Volvo Construction Equipment is using the three days at Hillhead 2016 (28-30 June) to find an overall winner and runner-up to represent GB in the Operators Club finals to take place in October in Belley, France (Volvo’s compact equipment manufacturing facility).
Since the Operators Club was launched in Great Britain at Plantworx 2013, the GB club has attracted close to 2600 active members.

The Austrian cement industry increased its turnover by 4% to €388.3 million (US$442.83 million) in the second half of 2015.
In total 4.81 million tonnes of cement was produced in 2015.

County-Tyrone, Northern Ireland-based CDEnviro has been ranked in the top 20 on a national league table of Britain’s fastest-growing SME exporters.
The 2nd annual Sunday Times Heathrow SME Export Track 100 league ranks Britain’s private small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) with the fastest-growing international sales.
CDEnviro, which was listed at number 16, was one of two businesses from Northern Ireland to feature. Country Antrim-based Seven Technologies Group ranks at No 43 on the league table.

UK: Longley sells Whites to Naylor Concrete
Longley Concrete has sold Whites Concrete to Naylor Concrete Products.
Whites has a turnover of £2 million (€2.5 million/US$3 million) and makes pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete products.
Naylor said the deal would extend its product range.
Production will move from Longley's site in Dewsbury to Naylor's plant near Barnsley, northern England.
Iran’s cement, clinker exports down
Iran exported 15 million tonnes of cement and clinker in 2015-16, down a fifth from the previous year.
Abdolreza Sheikhan, the Association of Cement Industry Entrepreneurs secretary, said that among the major export markets, Iraq (which accounted for 60% of shipments) raised tariffs from US$4 (€3.51) per tonne to US$13 during the year under review, while Azerbaijan has increased domestic production and reduced imports.
Iran now seeks to market cement in Africa and Central Asia.
