663 Smiley Monroe was using virtual reality (VR) at 465 steinexpo 2017 to highlight and explain the key benefits of the company’s comprehensive range of conveyor belts and custom rubber parts for the global materials processing equipment sector.

The Smiley Monroe VR headset was a popular attraction over the four-day showcase staged in Europe’s biggest basalt quarry in Homberg/Nieder-Ofleiden, central Germany (30 August – 2 September). It shows users how Lisburn, Northern Ireland-based Smiley’s product range can be deployed on a typical mobile crushing plant.

Tim Monroe, Smiley Monroe’s marketing director, said: “The VR tour allows people to immerse themselves in our products and make sense of how where they sit on a mobile plant. It was very popular at CONEXPO/CON-AGG in Las Vegas earlier this year. We’ve been gradually stepping up what we’re doing with video and other media in the last few years.”

At steinexpo 2017, Smiley was also displaying water jet cut, hexagon-shaped samples of its product range. “We think making hexagon-shaped product samples makes them stand out from others you tend to see on display at shows,” said Tim.

Smiley Monroe is globally renowned for its production of hot spliced ‘endless’ conveyor belts for the mobile crushing, screening and recycling sector. ZIP CLIP is another popular product, said by Smiley to be the fastest, securest Replacement Belt System on the market, whilst requiring no training or power supply to fit it.
