The BAA says the voting for the Assessment of Operating Standards (AOS) scheme Quarry of the Year award 2020 was very close due to the high standards set this year, making the assessment panel’s decision extremely difficult.

The association has offered its congratulations to quarry manager Ben Strickland and his team for an outstanding achievement.

The assessment panel also highly commended Tillicoultry Quarries for maintaining the very high standards they have set in previous years in achieving accreditation at two of their sites, Tams Loup Quarry and Northfield Quarry.

The BAA launched the AOS scheme in 2007 and says it has grown in strength and currently the majority of members are engaged with the scheme. It provides third party accreditation to members’ operations, showing that their quarries meet the standards necessary to demonstrate that they are being managed and operated competently.

The BAA commented: "This has been an exceptionally difficult year for everyone, making the achievement of BAA AOS accreditation all the more credit worthy."
