Mexican global building materials giant 643 CEMEX has launched its call for entries to the company’s 2019 Building Award.

The CEMEX Building Award recognises the best buildings in Mexico and the world, as well as the professionals who make them possible. Since its creation in 1991, the award has become a benchmark in the construction industry, recognizing projects that stand out for their design, innovation, and promotion of environmental preservation, while offering better solutions for their users and communities.

The registration process for both the Mexico Edition and the International Edition of the CEMEX Building Award is completed online at <%$Linker:2External<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?><dictionary />000link-external www.premioobrascemex.com.falsehttp://www.premioobrascemex.com/falsefalse%> Registrants can consult the elements and requirements at the same address.

Each edition of the award is divided into five main categories: Residential Housing, Affordable Housing, Building, Collective Space, and Infrastructure. In addition, it has four special recognitions: Universal Accessibility, Sustainable Building, Construction Innovation and Social Value.

The call is open to projects completed in 2018, and the deadline to participate is 3 May 2019. The finalists from each category will be announced in July, and winners will be presented their awards at a ceremony in November in Mexico City.

Under the slogan ‘Ideas that build life’, the CEMEX Building Award recognises those works that start as mere ideas and end up as construction projects that provide value to those who interact with them. The contest seeks to encourage creativity and the development of better construction practices, while underscoring innovations that will become the new construction standards of tomorrow.

In 2018, 911 projects registered for the Mexico Edition, from which more than 600 were selected for participation and 20 were chosen as finalists, including Foro Boca Concert Hall in Veracruz, ITESM Library in Monterrey, Punta Caliza Hotel in Quintana Roo, and Highway Palmillas Apaseo el Grande in Querétaro. In the International Edition, 63 projects from 19 countries participated, including Salesforce Tower in the U.S., Mersey Gateway in England, and Seafront Promenade of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
