Chinese cement industry profit up 20% in H1 2019

Chinese cement industry profit was up nearly 20% in the first half of this year, compared to the same period of 2018, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics. Profit levels hit CNY 80 billion (US$11.63bn) in the January to June 2019 period, while cement industry output rose 6.8% to 1.05 billion tonnes. Chinese cement industry profit was up nearly 20% in the first half of this year, compared to the same period of 2018, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics.

Profit levels hit CNY 80 billion (US$11.63bn) in the January to June 2019 period, while cement industry output rose 6.8% to 1.05 billion tonnes. The average cement price also increased over the six-month period by nearly CNY 20 (US$2.90) per tonne.

China’s National Bureau of Statistics in China revealed that Chinese cement industry profit stood at CNY 154.5bn (US$22.5bn) for the year 2018.

A recent 969 Freedonia Group study noted how China accounts for over half of the 3.9 billion tonne annual global cement demand.
