In a moving message, the Foundation’s Executive Director Laura Viscovich said: “Edi touched the lives of many people across all five continents during his tenure as General Manager of the Holcim Foundation. Responsible for the Foundation’s inception in 2003, Edi’s dedication, energy and passion helped develop the organisation into a renowned and trusted global partner for architects, design and engineering professionals, and academics. He established the Holcim Awards as the world’s most significant competition for sustainable design, presided over almost 50 prize hand-over ceremonies, and edited some 40 publications related to sustainable construction.
“Edi stepped down from his role at the Foundation in 2021 and was looking forward to new adventures in retirement.
“As we come to terms with this shocking and unexpected news, we would like to ask you to join us in remembering Edi’s unwavering commitment to the Foundation and his incredible gift for connecting people from all geographies and all walks of life. We feel deeply honoured to have the opportunity to build on his legacy.
“We invite you to capture any thoughts or memories you have of Edi via this online book of condolences. This will be shared with Edi’s family, who are very much in our thoughts.”
