Indian cement companies restart production

Indian cement makers ACC, Ambuja Cement, ICC, India Cements, JK Cement and JK Lakshmi Cement yesterday (20 April) restarted manufacturing activity, in a phased approach complying with the government's social distancing standard operating procedure (SOP).

Indian media outlets report that talks are ongoing with relevant authorities. JK Cement already has facilities running in Karnataka state and JK Lakshmi Cement in Gujarat, with permission of the respective state governments.

On 15 April 2020, president Narendra Modi's governing administration announced that industrial units in rural areas would be allowed to operate from 20 April while complying with social distancing rules.
