High oil prices caused by the current unrest in the Middle East is likely to impact on asphalt and concrete prices this year, according to a number of UK-based producers. Both 1707 Aggregate Industries and 894 Breedon Aggregates have said that rising bitumen prices will impact on material costs during 2011, which could cause significant problems for road repair programmes.

The impact of rising oil prices is expected to be a wide-spread problem in Europe.
