Rwanda-based CIMERWA is reportedly gearing up to increase its cement production to 600,000tonnes/year by mid-2019 to meet major new demand linked to showpiece infrastructure works in the East Africa region.

The multi-national Isaka-Kigali standard gauge railway and Bugesera International Airport in Rwanda’s Eastern Province are just two of the exciting multi-billion US dollar projects either underway or due to begin later in 2018.

CIMERWA is also said to be keen to get a share of Rwanda’s middle class building materials supply market, which attracts strong cement demand.

Part of African building materials giant, PPC, CIMERWA’s production plant is located in Bugarama, Rusizi district in Rwanda’s South West border area.
