The Cullimore Group, Gloucestershire, West England’s leading provider of haulage and aggregates, is marking its 90th year in business by holding a summer jubilee event later this year. The family-owned venture has been supplying businesses and local communities in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire since the late 1920s.

Moreton Cullimore, managing director at The 8628 Cullimore Group, says: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone. We pride ourselves on supplying quality materials to local people, all the while looking after our environment in the process.

“Our business has been passed down through three generations, from my grandfather to my father to me. This personal family philosophy is something we maintain at all times, all the while providing a professional, modern outlook to our customers. Overall, this anniversary is really special for the whole Cullimore Group.”

Over the years, the company has become renowned for its environmental conscience, with the principle ‘we are only borrowing the land’ at the centre of its philosophy. The Group believe that after working with the land, it is their duty to return it to an even better state than it was previously in. This belief has resulted in every piece of land taking on a new lease of life, for example the creation of new habitats, some of which would not otherwise have been possible before the work started.

Roger N Cullimore, chairman of the Group, explains: “For us, it is hugely important to upkeep our long-standing beliefs when it comes to caring for the environment. With concerns around quarrying being raised all the time, we ensure the environment remains a priority, even striving to create new habitats and wetlands wherever possible.”

The Cullimore Group began when Moreton C Cullimore, founder of the Group, bought a second-hand truck to transport milk, produce and livestock from his farm to local markets in the Gloucestershire area. When requests for his services began to grow, Mr MC Cullimore set up the business as a local haulier. Within ten years, the Cullimores had a fleet of ten trucks and business was booming.
