642 Pilot Crushtec International – the southern Africa distributor for 448 Metso aggregate and mobile products – walked away with the Best Sales Growth Award at Metso’s second global aggregates Distributor Days, held on October 7-8 in Tampere, Finland.

Pilot Crushtec is responsible for Metso’s aggregates product range, including static, tracked and wheeled crushers, scalpers and screens in southern Africa. Overall, the company was nominated in four categories: Best Innovation; Best Lokotrack Sales; Best Sales; and Distributor of the Year.

“We are proud to have won the Best Sales Award, which is testimony to our capabilities as a Metso distributor. To be ranked in the global top four in all these categories speaks volumes about our abilities,” says Francois Marais, director – Sales & Marketing at Pilot Crushtec International.

This year’s award comes on the back of yet another achievement at the previous Distributor Days in September 2017. The Jet Park-based crushing and screening specialist received the accolade for Best New Services Distributor, barely 16 months after taking over as the Metso distributor in southern Africa.

Pekka Vauramo, CEO and president of Metso, commended Pilot Crushtec’s capabilities, saying the dealer’s appointment has ushered in new levels of growth for Metso in southern Africa. “We have enjoyed a very successful cooperation with Pilot Crushtec. Testimony to their capabilities is that they have become our third largest distributor globally in three years,” says Vauramo.

Central to this feat, according to Marais, is Pilot Crushtec’s world class aftermarket service. “We believe we have the best aftermarket offering in the crushing and screening industry across Africa. We have a dedicated support team available to our customers 24/7/365. This is complemented by a massive parts stockholding to ensure quick parts turnaround times for our customers. In fact, we currently hold parts worth over R120 million in our warehouse,” says Marais.

Moreover, Pilot Crushtec, in partnership with its principal, rolled out an industry-first, standard 5-year/ 10,000-hour warranty on all Metso crushers and screens at the start of this year. Marais says the company is the only Metso dealer in the world to offer the extended warranty.

“It made sense for us to package it as a standard offering. We believe in the quality of the Metso product and know that if customers prescribe to OEM servicing levels, their equipment will last longer and perform better. The extended warranty also assures our customers that the OEM and the supplier are ready to deliver on their promise,” says Marais.

Looking ahead, Marais says Pilot Crushtec has its eyes set on the bigger prize. “We have our eyes set on the Distributor of the Year accolade. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are very confident that we will get there,” concludes Marais.
