In screening media, there is no substitute for experience

It is known that within the quarry industry screening problems related to media are generally accepted. This was confirmed recently at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, Las Vegas when a production manager stated “screening difficulties we face is keeping the deck clean, we need to reduce pegging and blinding, which is an issue for everyone”. Based on more than 50 years of experience within screening media, Metso Outotec knows this is not true. They have not found the right solution yet.

Continuous development with material technology innovation

To find the most suitable screening media solution, many factors need to be taken into consideration. “Metso Outotec offers you the widest range of dependable screening media solutions from a single source. Different options are available for fine to coarse screening in both wet and dry applications and are easily adapted for any screening operation” says Claes Larsson, Product Manager Screening Media at Metso Outotec. “The complete range meets all your needs in terms of cost, availability, module sizes, functions, and more.”

Metso Outotec offers Trellex® modular, panel, and tension screening media systems, as a result of more than 50 years of experience and product development. As materials technology continues to develop, so does Metso Outotec’s innovation in applying them to screening media. Steel is still the most widely used screening media material used today. But to receive the best results in today’s operations you should combine materials such as steel and rubber/polyurethane and take full advantage of the best features.

Various materials with different benefits

The modular system has been designed for dependable operation, with lightweight rubber or polyurethane modules and easy snap-on or pin-and-sleeve connections. The unique use of various materials, coupled with efficient production technology, creates solutions and opportunities that deliver on customers’ high expectations. Polyurethane enables heavier loads compared to rubber in the same material hardness and has a low sensibility to wet applications. Rubber on the other hand offer more application-specific compounds, has a higher strength in low material hardness and offers higher friction on the screen deck. Thanks to the wide range of state-of-the-art materials, the quarries will among other things experience less pegging and blinding, while extending the wear life of the media panels. Metso Outotec also offers fire-retardant rubber.

Metso OutotecRegional experience and offering

As a result of Metso Outotec’s global presence, modular systems have been developed to suit both regional and industry requirements of module fixing. In March 2023 Trellex® GS was added to the assortment, thereby completing the range regarding fixing as it is compatible with all screens with European/North American standard aggregate module fixing. ”Trellex® GS is an important addition to our screening media portfolio and complements our goal to develop easy-to-use screening modules, which make a sustainable difference to the customer’s screening process,” says Adrian Wood, Vice President, Regional Sales Support Screening, Metso Outotec. “All of our screening media has been developed based on the unique process knowledge Metso Outotec has from the whole process including crushing, grinding, and screening.”
