With 50 retail locations, the Porter Group and its heavy construction equipment distributor arm, Porter Equipment, are now two of the largest privately owned heavy equipment suppliers in New Zealand and Australia. It distributes the world's leading brands of construction equipment through sales and rentals in four countries: New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the United States. The range includes Hyundai tracked and wheeled excavators, wheeled loaders and skid steer loaders; Ammann compactors and rollers; Rokbak articulated dump trucks, Sandvik, Portafill and Screencore rock crushers and screens; Bergmann tracked and wheeled dumpers; NC site dumpers and Furukawa rock breakers.
Porter Equipment is backed by its dedicated product support division, which provides specialist support to the construction and mineral extractive industries, expert advice and factory-backed technical support for all Porter Group products. Porter Equipment staff are trained and accredited by the manufacturers to repair and service the engines, transmissions, and hydraulic components. The highly trained service technicians are committed to quality service, keeping machines running and the bottom line in check. The company also provides after-market service capabilities, including quick response repairs, routine and preventative maintenance, service agreements, and remanufacturing.
Recently, Porter Equipment's Adelaide office supplied one of Northern Ireland-based Screencore's latest developments, the Screencore Boxer. This is an advanced and environmentally focused tracked pugmill designed for precision mixing, blending and dosing. The Screencore Boxer is designed to be a highly versatile machine that can be adapted to work with various applications for mixing. It has been designed to add moisture content to road base materials and is also capable of undertaking cement-stabilised applications. It can even be fitted with a double-deck vibrating grid to screen off oversized material.
Amongst the Boxer's key features is that it works with the belt feed hopper, delivering a uniformly proportioned feed onto the 1,200mm twin drive discharge conveyor. Its 12m long discharge conveyor also facilitates truck loading with the operator having full control of the material flow from the remote control start/stop action or through the Batch Processing facility. "With a consistent material bed depth, the over belt cement weigh hopper, and the inline twin paddle mixer box enable the user to literally dial in the material using the plc automation," explains Screencore director Ciarán Ryan.
Porter Equipment now carries a full range of Screencore tracked and mobile crushers, screens and stockpilers, including trommels and of course the Screencore Boxer. "This is the first Boxer to be sold in Australia and we are sure that it won't be the last.
"The feedback we've received from Porter's area sales manager, Tim Sharad and the service engineers is that the Boxer is proving to be as effective as we said it would be and that the customer is delighted with its accuracy and effectiveness," concludes Ryan.
