The company has supplied mineral processing equipment including pumps, valves and filtration systems to the German market for more than 30 years, and the new 600m² facility will provide a permanent servicing and supply base to enhance after-sales support.
A team of Weir Minerals service technicians will be based at the centre, allowing larger repairs and maintenance to be carried out nearby in Germany.
The business says that the service centres strategic location will provide faster turnaround of repairs and enable customer-specific regular service programmes, maximising mean-time between failures and ensuring minimum downtime when replacements are needed.
The location was chosen because of its proximity to many of Weir Minerals’ key clients which have active operations within a 100km radius.
Along with Weir Minerals’ existing German sales office in Heilbronn, the facility will serve as a base for Weir Minerals’ team of mobile engineers which supports customers across the country and beyond.
Tony G Locke, managing director of Weir Minerals Europe, said: “This is a landmark move for Weir Minerals’ business in Germany and an important step towards achieving our target of expanding our service support provision for clients across Central Europe.”
