2836 Weir Minerals has launched two new sales and support centres in Spain and The Netherlands as part of its strategy to get closer to its customers across the Iberian Peninsula and Benelux regions.

The company supplies mineral processing equipment including pumps, valves and filtration systems to the mining, aggregates and general industrial sectors.

The new bases, strategically placed in locations central to the territories, will provide both sales and technical support to the company’s growing European customer base.

The Netherlands base is in Nederweert in the south-east of the country near the Belgian border and the Spanish centre is in Madrid.

Tony G Locke, managing director of Weir Minerals Europe, said: “Both Weir Minerals and the Warman pump range are well-known brands for managers of mining operations right across Europe, and we have built a solid customer base in every European country.

“It is crucial that the quality of our customer service and after sales support matches that of the products we manufacture, and getting closer to our customers on the ground is a key part of our business development strategy.

“The new Madrid and Venlo locations will be instrumental in delivering this by ensuring that customers are never more than a few hours away from a member of our customer services team or a skilled technician.

“We appreciate the critical nature of the role played by the equipment we provide, and are committed to ensuring that downtime is minimised and maintenance and repair support, wherever it is needed, is provided quickly and efficiently.”

The launch of the two new locations follows the opening in September, 2011, of a 600m² service centre in Essen, Germany, which provided a strategic location from which Weir Minerals could deliver maintenance and repair services for larger pieces of equipment for customers across central Europe.
