Chicago Pneumatic says it has become the blue stone quarry industry’s leading provider of portable compressors in India’s Navi-Mumbai region. The company is now believed to supply 80% of the portable compressors in use across the region’s 250 stone quarries.
This breakthrough order helped Chicago Pneumatic gain a reputation across the region, leading to more than 150 compressors being sold in less than six years, says the company.
“When our CPS325 compressor was first introduced to the market, its performance in terms of fuel efficiency and reliability quickly became known,” says Chicago Pneumatic’s business line manager, Varun Bajpai.
Before buying Chicago Pneumatic equipment, Ashkay Stones used five compressors to power three jackhammers, achieving a total crusher capacity of around 120tonnes/hour. By using three Chicago Pneumatic CPS325 compressors, the company is now able to operate six jackhammers at the same time, generating an added crusher capacity of 200tonnes/hour.
Chicago Pneumatic has a strong relationship with its local dealer, Harshit Pneumatic Tools Corporation. “When we first started working in Navi-Mumbai, our dealer was well aware of the local market and identified a range of customer needs,” says Chicago Pneumatic’s key segment manager, Kailas Rahatkar.
“As a result, Harshit Pneumatic was able to successfully leverage our products’ reliable performance through word of mouth”.
One month after Akshay Stones bought its first Chicago Pneumatic compressor, the neighbouring Mauli Stones quarry ordered a CPS325. Since then, Chicago Pneumatic has supplied the two quarries with three CPS325 compressors each, with Ashkay also planning to buy two CPS450E or three CPS300E compressors in preparation for the opening of a new stone quarry.
“We are servicing the Navi-Mumbai quarry industry through our dealer, which is located within 3km of the stone quarries,” says Kailas Rahatkar.
Harshit Pneumatic has been supplying spares for compressors over the last three decades, and is able to access an ample stock of Chicago Pneumatic parts to cater for the blue stone quarry market. In addition, Chicago Pneumatic is able to provide direct support to the industry through a technical support engineer located in the nearby city of Thane.
