The interactive map is available on CEMBUREAU’s website and currently identifies a total of 53 projects spread over the region.

It provides a brief description of each project, including the project types and key partners, in addition to its geographical location.

The projects involve different technologies to reduce the cement industry’s CO2 emissions, such as: carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS); the phase-out of fossil fuels and their replacement with non-recyclable waste and biomass waste; the development of low-clinker cements, new cements and alternative binders; and the recarbonation of concrete and mineralisation of aggregates.

The map demonstrates the sector’s commitment to invest in low-carbon technologies, in line with CEMBUREAU’s Carbon Neutrality Roadmap. As shown in the map, the sector uses a significant variety of technologies to reduce its carbon footprint, impacting the full cement and concrete value chain.

The content of the interactive map will be kept updated as further projects are launched by the European cement industry.
