The two-day event will bring together C+ executives and decision-makers from cement manufacturing companies, environmental specialists, equipment and technology producers as well as innovation, research and development, academia, authorities and think tanks.
Event organiser Industry Link comments: "Conclusions from various summits, conferences and meetings show that despite unprecedented climate distress, from radical weather changes with regional impact to local phenomena, we are still heading a one-way road towards climate disaster."
It adds that the 2023 event will build on the success of the first edition which just concluded in November in Lisbon, Portugal with participants from 18 countries. Participants who attended included the event decision makers from Holcim, Heidelberg Materials, Titan Cement, Cementos Argos Cimsa, Secil and Dalmia Cement representing India, Brazil, South Africa, USA, Colombia as well as diverse countries in Europe.
During the first edition of the CarbonZero Global Conference and Exhibition, delegates agreed that the cement and construction industry needs major changes including the updating of industry standards, aligning with global climate change efforts, communicating inter-regionally and a clear commitment to changes such as moving industry institutions. Industry Link says that clear policies and instruments are required for a clean and safe planet as circular economy is the optimum scenario the industry should tend towards.
Industry Link MD Beatrice Ene comments: “A lot of delegates told us they preferred attending CarbonZero Global Conference and Exhibition in favor of many other well-known events we had running at the same time because they needed a change. And we need a change in the event format that actually puts concrete solutions above the old format. A dedicated forum that united think tanks, government, civil society, academia as well as the obvious and must-have industry stakeholders. We had the perfect get together that emphasized that we can deliver innovation and a new approach.”
