The white cement producer says the recognition demonstrates the strong commitment to achieving its ambitious sustainability roadmap towards 2030.

Michele Di Marino, chief sales, marketing & commercial development for CCB Cementir Holding, said the CSC certification is a key milestone for the group to be recognised for a more sustainable products/solutions portfolio.

The CSC is a responsible sourcing certification system which promotes and demonstrates concrete as a sustainable building material to enable informed decisions in construction. CSC certification is built on auditing the management, environment, economic and social aspects of sustainability in addition to the ethical, legal compliance and human rights categories.

Cementir says the CSC label is progressively gaining importance in Belgium and is recognised by the country's government. "This is a clear opportunity for CCB to promote and demonstrate concrete as a sustainable building material.

“The added value for our clients is very relevant for the success in their own business, as CSC has now been recognised as a responsible sourcing certification system in Green Building Rating System like BREEAM, LEED and Envision," Di Marino added.

Cementir Group says it is fully committed to achieving further green and sustainable certifications in all its subsidiaries and businesses.

Its sustainable solutions include the patented FUTURECEM low carbon cement, which uses limestone and calcined clay synergy to reduce the product's carbon footprint by around 30% compared to Ordinary Portland Cement.
