Arizona Land and Mineral Resources plans expansion

August 18, 2017

Arizona Land and Mineral Resources has applied to Bullhead City Council, Arizona for rezoning to authorize mining of sand and gravel aggregate in a pair of parcels totaling more than 50 acres off Pass Canyon Road near the Bullhead Parkway.

Arizona Land and Mineral Resources owns a 10-acre parcel and a 40.98-acre parcel currently zoned as general commercial, and commercial and minor industrial. The company is requesting the land be rezoned general limited industrial, reports Mohave Daily News.com.

“The current C2 and C3 zoning has become a hardship for the property owner due to the limitations of the allowable uses for the above-mentioned zoning,” says a memorandum to the Bullhead City Planning and Zoning Commission, which earlier this month advanced the request to the city council.

“Therefore, the applicant would like to rezone the property back to M1 so that at a later date the applicant can apply for a conditional use permit that will allow them to proceed with mining operations.”

According to a rezoning statement, the requested zone change is “for the purpose of mining and processing sand and gravel aggregate along with the production of concrete ready-mix products. The rezoning request should be granted to allow for the economic removal of sand and gravel products to be used in construction activities throughout the area. The current mining site is not producing adequate amounts of rock and gravel whereas test pits on the owner’s property indicate good quality materials."
